Partner 14: AdI – Agência de Inovação S.A. (Portuguese Innovation Agency) / Portugal

The Innovation Agency is essentially dedicated to the promotion of innovation and technological development with a view to facilitating closer ties between research activities and the Portuguese business sector. AdI is a state-owned agency related to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Economy. Working within a network of administrative departments, technological centres, business associations and other Science &Technology entities located in Portugal, AdI also pursues a policy of promoting international cooperation. As such, it acts as a link between the European Union, Asia, Latin America and various international R&D organisations.

AdI also supports the creation of spin-off companies from within the Portuguese scientific and technological system. It also helps businesses to found co-operative networks with a view to developing new products and to hire researchers and either acquire technology or develop it in-house. AdI relies on its network of national and international experts to assess, select and monitor projects, thereby ensuring their technical and scientific competence as well as acquiring knowledge about the sectors in question and their respective markets.
