Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) / Czech Republic

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, set up by a constitutional law in 1969, is a ministry responsible mainly for industry, domestic and foreign trade. In addition, it is a state administration body responsible for energetics, construction and mining. The ministry carries out activities in the area of legislation, policy making and programming. Its responsibilities also comprise industrial research and development, SME promotion and and innovation. The Ministry runs its research and development programmes as well. Moreover, the Ministry is the Managing Authority of the Operational Programme Industry and Enterprise, which uses the means of Structural Funds to support SMEs, the infrastructure for research and development and innovation.
