Requests for Industrial Partners/SMEs

3D-Vision technology has certainly more opportunities than the ones used in the daily activities of the average European SME’s.
The project RGBd, TOF ! aims at developping new applications in rather weak structured production environment in which automatic guided vehicles operate; in which robots are in full action or where intelligent supervision has to done on moving objects.
The core of the project will be the confrontation of the classic Stereo Vision in relation to the abilities of RGB-Time Of Flight (TOF) cameras. Academic knowledge and support can be given from a lot of companies and from some labs at the Antwerp University (UA).

The project wants to build on previous results where innovation capacity in SMEs is analyzed in terms of relations between the strategy, the processes and the culture of the company. In the first step they want to identify the relationship between technological innovation and social innovation. In the second step they want to make an instrument (questionnaire + analysis model) that can identify how the two types of innovation can strengthen each other in a specific case. The project coordinator is looking for companies that are willing to serve as a case where both types of innovation are applied at the same time.

The aim of the project is the clarification of manufacturing and design paradigms for bio-based products and the realization of pleasant and eco-effective bio-based products. It is also aiming at the incremental achievement of cyclic material flows as part of an extended (sustainable) value chain. The project coordinator is looking for companies creating and implementing new product design opportunities offered by renewable materials, to achieve eco-effective products economically.

Production of food, as raw materials and as food products, is inevitable related to production of waste. These waste streams can still have a high valorisation quality as they can contain important nutritional components. These, so called 'secondary flows' can thus find useful applications. It is interesting to know which secondary flows have a high nutritional value, which nutritional important components can be released by fermentation and can be further purified. The project coordinator is looking for partners in the Food Industry and Biotechnology partners.

The Research Group “Simulation of Thermal Systems” (K.U. Leuven) wants to submit a new research project proposal, using monitoring and simulation data as feedback for the improved design of office building systems. A clear focus is chosen, being cooling, heating and ventilation in office buildings equipped with ground coupled heat pumps that feed thermally activated building systems (GCHP+TABS).

Car to infrastructure communication has proven its value in different application domains like fleet control and tolling. In a first stage of the project some different available techniques will be tested and documented. In the second stage the application domain will be extended with the exploration of new applications, which can be suggested by the participating companies.

The GFE project objective is the development of cellulosic biomass gasification providing highest efficiency in small scale biomass to power applications. On the basis of experience acquired by XYLOWATT's team over 20 years industrial partners are invited to join the project. The project will be presented at the CORNET/EraSME partnering event in Maastricht on January 20, 2010.

The SAFE project objective is the design and implementation of a service platform based on Wearable sensor networks, to monitor physiological parameters of people working in critical infrastructures (industrial plants, chemical companies, oil refineries, …). The project coordinator is looking for Usability / Accessibility experts, with strong skills on state of the art evaluation methodologies as well as Dissemination / Exploitations experts, with previous experience in setting up dissemination and exploitation plans to deploy R&D projects in the European Market.

Requests for Research and Technology Organisations

The project coordinator is looking for Research organisations that want to contribute to the research, either by delivering and studying cases or by providing theoretical foundation for the results.

The ongoing aging of the population creates multiple new technological challenges. Most elderly hope to live at home until the very end of their lives. The aim of this project is to investigate which technology
(contactless sensors, video imaging, ...) is available or can be developed to observe their activities of daily living (ADL) and to build applications, based on those observations, to improve their quality of life. The project coordinator is looking for rearch groups with relevant and complementary expertise.

Today, dynamic 3D-scanning technology allows to produce accurate high definition images, within seconds. Consequently, research based on data
acquired of large populations is increasingly feasible. Unfortunately, the tools to analyze and compare those images and to extract characteristic parameters (semi-)automatically, are scarce. The development of such
tools can be a break through in the development of multiple applications in the biomedical and rehabilitation technology fields, and is the major objective of this research project. The project coordinator is looking for research groups with relevant and complementary expertise, owning a 3D-scanning system.

Offer of Industrial Partners

The company Proventa AG is looking for partners for a project in the field of Data quality management, data migration and data reconciliation on large and heterogenous system landscapes. Following areas should be covered: Data profiling; Definition of unified data models; Matching of the data into the data model; Analysis of the data quality applying data quality rules; Data reconciliation; Data migration. The company is looking for partners with expertise in Database know-how, Professional software design expertise, Matching algorithms know-how.

SIPORT XXl is a Madrid SME that is interested in participating as a partner in a proposal in their field for this call. The company is a private engineering consulting dealing with port design and operation, specially related to ship behaviour and Maritime Safety.

Structuralia (www.structuralia.com) is a training school based in Madrid, focused especially on quality, contents specialization, pedagogic models and latest technologies (on-line training). They are looking for a partner to join Structuralia and CIMNE in an R&D project of the EraSME initiative. The expertise of the third consortium member should be, preferably, in the field of multimedia applications and content design and creation, games development, e-learning, etc. Previous experience in R&D projects funded by EU programmes would also be valuable.
